Why mental health matters
This months blog is a little different. We wanted to talk mental health.
Everyone has “mental health.” Just like we have physical health. So, the Team at JA Performing Arts are always very mindful of how our students are feeling on a Day to day basis. Just like we would be with physical health in a Dance class.
We know many young people have had a bit of journey, this past 18 months especially. We always ensure that our studio is a safe space, one that is open and honest and we encourage our students- if they feel comfortable- to be open about how they’re feeling. A problem shared is a problem halved remember.
We are passionate about helping our students find “them.” To completely be their authentic selves. We don’t believe that students should be carbon copies of each other. We like to think our students are some of the most diverse, amazing, interesting students around!
Having the confidence to get up and perform is huge. Training and technical ability are a big part of the process, but self belief and self worth are where it all really begins. So we believe as educators, it’s our job to help our young people see their full potential and guide them along the way.
Even with the regular day to day stresses, being a young person is hard sometimes! Exams, friendships, school and life in general can be quite overwhelming at times! So we are always here, with a listening ear, some sound advice and a safe place to have a vent- should they need it!
Our team are trained in different aspects of mental health care and this is an ongoing process that we are passionate about.
We are so proud of our amazing young people and the journeys they are all on!
If you have a child who you think would benefit from dance, feel free to pop us a message to see how we can help or maybe you’re an adult looking for a new way to exercise? Feel free to visit our adult tap and adult ballet pages – or just pop us a message, we are always here to help and advise.
We hope to hear from you soon.
