CLASSES FOR ADULTS

Do I need experience?  Am I too old to start now?

The short answer is … no!  Our classes cater from the complete beginner through to the experienced dancer.  Ballet is for everyone and is a great form of exercise for all ages!

Adult Ballet

For Adults

Our Adult Ballet classes have been exceptionally popular since we introduced the sessions to our timetable. We all know that it is so important to look after ourselves and have something that is just for us. 

We focus on strength, toning and feeling the burn! It is a gentle session that is tailored to all abilities and ages. This low impact class is refreshing and energising, whilst making sure there is an opportunity to build new friendships and have some ‘you time.’

 

Did you go to Ballet classes as a child?

Maybe you would like to get back to the barre!  Maybe you have always wanted to try ballet classes or you’re looking for a new hobby – then our Adult Ballet classes are for you!

Our Adult Ballet classes are a fantastic way for improving posture, flexibility, strength and stamina. It is also a great opportunity to meet other adults who share your passion for dance!

Our classes are designed with the adult body in mind.

 

What will you gain from our classes?

A full-body workout, whilst toning your muscles and being able to take some time for you!

 

What will you feel after the class? 

Ballet is a great way to refresh and start your day/weekend (if you attend our Friday evening class), whilst knowing you’ve had a great workout!

 

Is ballet a good form of exercise? 

Ballet gives you a full-body workout. Whilst learning Ballet you will work on toning and stretching your body – Ballet is great exercise for all ages!

Pointe Work

For Adults

We are pleased to offer two Adult Pointe classes during the week. Our Pointe work classes are aimed for those who are more experienced with Ballet technique and the strength required – we welcome students to attend the class by assessment only, to ensure the safe wellbeing of the dancer achieving Pointe work.

The class consists of strengthening exercises at the barre, centre work and across the floor combinations, depending on the ability level of each individual.

Pointe work is a fantastic way to challenge and develop Ballet technique.

Please note:  Pointe Work is by assessment only

Tap - Beginner's

Classes for Adults

If you are at the start of your tap dancing journey this class is for you!

We start at the very beginning; we will teach you all the basic steps you need to learn. You will learn exercises first of all and then start to put the steps together into fun and enjoyable routines to great music.

In this class we work on learning the terminology of the basic Tap steps which are then incorporated into exercises. We then put the steps together into fun and enjoyable routines. The Beginner’s class is a perfect environment for those wanting to learn something new, surrounded by others just like you, you’ll feel comfortable while enjoying learning your new skill!

Tap - Intermediate (Level 1)

Classes for Adults

Did you Tap as a child or tapped many years ago? Then we think you will love our intermediate Tap dance class.

This class requires a basic knowledge of tap dancing.  We teach various steps slowly and carefully to ensure they are understood and can be demonstrated correctly before moving on.

As well as working on the basic terminology from the Beginner’s class, we also work on some of the more intricate steps within exercises in the centre as well as travelling from the corner. The Intermediate class is perfect for those who want to work on developing their Tap skills. We also always have fun working on routines within a lovely friendly environment, you’re guaranteed a fun time!

Tap - Intermediate (Level 2)

Classes for Adults

Our second level Intermediate class is a mid way class between level 1 Intermediate and Advanced. We focus on the technique of Tap, breaking down and learning some of the more difficult steps in preparation for the Advanced level.

Our second level Intermediate class is a great class for those who want to push those Intermediate skills and aim for the Advanced class. Working on a lot of the Advanced steps at a slightly slower pace, we work on developing more knowledge and progressing the stamina to reach the level of Advanced.

Tap - Advanced

Classes for Adults

This class requires a good knowledge of tap dancing – if this is you why not join our group of happy tappers and improve your rhythm, co-ordination, and stamina.

We learn new steps each week and fun routines to get those memories working and put all the steps together.

The Advanced Tap class is perfect for those who are confident with their Tap skills, have a good knowledge of Tap terminology and want to push their skills with stamina and ability. We work on exercises and routines which challenge the students in a fun and creative environment. 

Our Adult Tap classes are open to all ages, and no you are not too old or even too young!  Our adults form a range of ages, so come along and join our group of happy tappers!

All of our tap dance classes will help to improve your rhythm, co-ordination, and stamina.

Jazz

Classes for Adults

A JA Performing Arts, we hold Adult Jazz classes in our purpose-built studio in Clacton.

Our Adult Jazz classes will cover many different genres of Jazz. Including – Fosse, Modern, Showgirl, Latin, Contemporary, Broadway and more.

We will work on flexibility and strength, technique needed for the foundation of Jazz dance, all while enjoying learning choreographed sequences and exercises.

We will incorporate different technical exercises from the major ISTD grades, perfect for strengthening, loosening and co ordination.

Most importantly, we are here to Dance! So, book yourself a place in our Adult Jazz class, wear some comfortable clothing- gym clothes or whatever you’re comfortable in.
